SUPPORT THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY SERVICE CENTER

Reserve your spot now at www.ccschouston.org for $40 per person, or you may pay $50 at the door. Join us for a casual Garden Party with a Latin flare featuring live entertainment, silent auction, wine pull, wine tasting, beer garden, and tapas.

STORY OF KRISTALLNACHT
On November 10, which marks the 75th anniversary of Kristallnacht, Church and Society Class will present Ruth Brown, a Houston-area Holocaust survivor and docent at Holocaust Museum Houston. She will tell the story of Kristallnacht and how it affected her family and her when they lived in Düsseldorf, Germany. During the two days of Kristallnacht, Hitler's Third Reich burned over a thousand synagogues; trashed and looted 7,000 Jewish businesses; killed dozens of Jewish people; and looted Jewish hospitals, cemeteries, schools, and homes while police and fire brigades stood by and did nothing. After Kristallnacht, the Nazis sent 30,000 German Jewish men to concentration camps.

FRIDAY PHIL-UP
Come to the next Friday Phil-UP on November 15, from 6-9 p.m.!
CHILDCARE IS PROVIDED at the church, in the Education Building. So, drop the kids off, then surround yourself with good company and eat some great grub at Barry’s Pizza, located at 6003 Richmond. Please RSVP for childcare (713) 622-4807 so we can accommodate. Don’t forget! Children need to bring their sack dinners so they can enjoy their own time together with their church friends.

ALTERNATIVE CHRISTMAS MARKET
Get your Christmas list together and bring your cash or checks to the Alternative Christmas Market next Sunday, November 17, from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in the gathering area. This is a great opportunity to support our many wonderful mission partners. There will be a variety of items to select from, including some from 10,000 Villages and CCSC, as well as Fair Trade coffee and chocolate, and handmade soaps. There will be a silent auction. To support the Market no adult Sunday School will be held.

CHRISTMAS FAMILIES 2013!!!!!
It’s that time again, when caring St. Philippians have the opportunity to make some CHRISTMAS magic for a needy child or family.
The Mission Committee is sponsoring this project, and we are working with Kids Meals INC. Look for us at the ALTERNATIVE CHRISTMAS MARKET on November 17 in the gathering area. Plan to sign up for one family member or a whole family, (your choice) and share your blessings with theseTEN appreciative families. If you don’t have time to shop, you can give a cash donation that will help us buy gift cards from WalMart to give to each family. You can do this in honor of someone or you can shop the Alternative Christmas Market for gifts to give to the family member you wish to sponsor. QUESTIONS? Call Cheryl Barker or Karen Morris.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY - LORD OF THE STREETS
St. Philippians will serve breakfast to the homeless on Sunday, November 17. We gather in the St. Philip parking lot at 6:30 a.m. to carpool to Trinity Episcopal Church and are back in time for Sunday School. Interested in helping? Call Janet Davis at 713-464-2385 to take part in this gratifying project.
